LHSS Project

This Data Lifeboat was created by the Flickr Foundation on 8 July 2025.

The Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS), funded by the US Agency for International Development, helps low- and middle-income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems to support access to universal health coverage. The project works with partner countries and local stakeholders to reduce financial barriers to care and treatment, ensure equitable access to essential health services for all people, and improve the quality of health services. Led by Abt Associates, the five-year project will build local capacity to sustain strong health system performance, supporting a path to recipient self-reliance and resilience. LHSS has also supported COVID-19 response efforts in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Laos, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Our assistance varies from country to country, according to needs determined by each national government. Funder: US Agency for International Development Mechanism: Task Order 1 contract under USAID's Integrated Health Systems IDIQ Period of Performance: August 2019 - August 2024
