USAID Burma is Myanmar’s strategic partner in its pursuit of open and accountable governance, inclusive growth, and private enterprise-driven development to sustain progress and foster peace through inter-ethnic mutual economic benefit. USAID’s assistance efforts leverage the unique resources of the United States, building partnerships with between the Myanmar’s domestic businesses and American private sector organizations, sectors and with the diaspora. USAID supports Myanmar’s progress towards self-reliance by strengthening the resilience of populations vulnerable to conflict and natural disasters while also meeting the short-term needs of those facing humanitarian crises, particularly communities in Rakhine, Kachin, and Northern Shan States. USAID supports civil society as integral partners across its three program areas: Health, Economic Growth and Agriculture, and Democracy, Governance and Humanitarian Assistance.
